Come Meet the Jaquishs - Married 65 years

Local Eau Claire residents Don and Eunice Jaquish will celebrate 63 years of marriage this year. They have three children, eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter with another on the way. "You have to be around a long time to have that many greats in front of your name, " Don kidded.

The couple met in 1939 because of Eunice's hospitable mother. She was twelve and he was fourteen. Her mother always welcomed nieces and nephews and their friends to her home, and Don happened to be the best friend of Eunice's cousin. At first they were just friends who hung out together. Two years later, when Don was sixteen, he bought a 1927 Nash. "We used to go to a restaurant, buy a pint of ice cream, and sit in the car and eat it together, " he shared.
