Northwest Wisconsin offers visitors many scenic natural wonders, including waterfalls, rocky gorges, scenic views stretching for miles, green luscious rivers, and the incredible Lake Superior. If one was to take a trip to see it all, the first stop would be The Dalles of the St. Croix River located south of St. Croix Falls Wisconsin. Here is where the river flows deep into a dark, rocky gorge with tall cliffs and beautifully carved formations that makes a person wonder at the destructive and yet beautiful effects of rushing water.
The scenic area covers both the Wisconsin and Minnesota sides of the river. Both states have taken the land and devoted it to a park called Interstate Park. Many trails meander through both sides of the river offering a close up view of the bluffs, cliffs, and interesting formations carved into the exposed early lava bed.
