In trying to decide where in the realm of food to begin with these informative articles, I struggled with settling on a subject. There are jus t so many I could pursue, research, and feature! When I finally did settle on the subject of bread at my husband's suggestion, I wondered why it had taken me so long to decide. It was an obvious choice for a beginning. It's so basic in our day-to-day lives.
Bread is an excellent food that has sustained humans (seemingly) from the beginning of time. The Bible's first mention of bread is in Genesis 3:19 which says, "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground". It is further mentioned over 300 times and is such a significant part of life that even Jesus used it to describe himself, saying, "I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger". Bread wasn't vital for life in the Bible times alone either. Think back a few years to the picture of the old food pyramid. The foundation and base upon which the rest of the pyramid was built was bread and other grain products.
