State Employee Unions Dehumanize Their Members

I observed the union protests in Madison and in Eau Claire last month. I interviewed opponents of Scott Walker's budget fix bill. They all said "Its not about the money." Well, I don't know who they think they're kidding - its always about the money. We've all heard the old adage, "Follow the money." Yes teachers and other state employees will have to sacrifice a little like the rest of us, but it is the union bosses who are likely to suffer the most. That is why they are whipping their members up into a frenzy. We have heard politicians who work for the unions repeat over and over again, that it is not right to vilify the state employees. The problem is, they have vilified themselves by their actions and protest signs.
The union bosses have dehumanized their union members (mostly teachers in this case), and turned them into a mob - an uncivilized mob. They have caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage to our state capitol building. They lived like barbarians in the rotunda. They have issued death threats to Republican legislators and to Gov. Walker. They proudly carried signs equating Gov. Walker to Hitler, and Mubarak. I haven't been in Madison this week to see if there were signs comparing him to Qaddafi, but I suspect there were. Is this where collective bargaining has brought us? Where are the union members who have enough individuality to stand against their unions and union bosses? Have they all been beaten into submission?
