The Dangers of School Vouchers

                 Republicans in Wisconsin stoked anger among supporters of the government school system when they proposed expanding Milwaukee's private school voucher system to other cities. Along with a desire to improve education, the school voucher system is proposed as a money saving program as well. Says Christian D'Andrea, Education Policy Analyst for the MacIver Institute,

                 "Despite a complex system that affects taxpayers differently both in the city and outside, the [Milwaukee Parental Choice Program] still provided a significant positive impact for Wisconsinites statewide. In the 2010 Fiscal Year, the MPCP created a net fiscal benefit of $46.7 million. This was up from a savings of $37.2m in FY 2009.
