Is the New Pickle Jar Bill Wisconsin's Start toward a Free Market Food Industry?
The Governor just signed a law allowing the sale of certain home-canned products like pickles, jams, and sauces without a license or the use of a commercial kitchen. The catch is that you can only make $5, 000 income off of the sales per year, you must have proper labeling, and you can't sell them at stores, only social events and farmer's markets. The bill also states that these 'exempted' sellers are to be encouraged to attend government approved training classes on home canning.
