Supreme Court Election: Recount Likely as Votes Carefully Tallied

Written By: ECJ Staff  |  Posted: Friday, April 8th, 2011

Justive David Prosser still holds a 7,300 vote lead over challanger JoAnn Kloppenburg.  With Thursday's recalibration of the election results in a number of counties, notably in Waukesha County where 14,000 votes were mistakenly left out of Wednesday's numbers, official voting results are being carefully tallied.  Though the race is no longer within the .5% ratio which would allow a recount at the state's expense, Kloppenburg likely will call for a recount.  She will have to pay $5 per voting ward recounted.  While some organizations have raised suspicions over the sudden find Thursday that put Prosser in the lead, officials in Waukesha County from both political parties have stated that the oversight was merely a human error.
