THE GAMBLING RACKET

Gambling is a racket which has never ceased to add impetus to the lawlessness and crime of every age. Organized gambling has discovered a weakness which exists in all mortal flesh and is out to cash in on it. Humans have an insane and persistent urge to gamble. It is an inborn something that has accompanied mankind from the beginning and has plagued his life and jeopardized his destiny. Gaudy cheating instruments in dimly-lighted casinos, widely-scattered smoke-filled bookie offices, even the more benign mediums bingo, punchboards and raffles are but outward symptoms of a heart that "is deceitful above all things." Gambling deceives, hoodwinks, robs and destroys. Yet we gamble on.
