State Budget Proposes Smallest Deficit in Over 21 Years

                According to the Comprehensive Annual Fiscal Report, the 2011/2012 biannual budget proposed by Governor Scott Walker has the lowest deficit since CAFR started reporting budget figures in 1990.  The budget, yet to be approved by the legislature, is still over $200 million in the hole, but that is only 30% of the smallest reported deficit in 1990 ($743 million).
