Gold and Treasure Expo Comes to Western Wisconsin

Written By: Jared Hanson  |  Posted: Monday, November 14th, 2011

That's right, the pastime of gold and treasure hunting has made it to Wisconsin and is thriving. The GPAA (Gold Prospectors Association of America) sponsored a show in La Crosse the weekend of October 15, and 16. The purpose of the show was to further inform western Wisconsinites about gold prospecting and treasure hunting in this fine state.

There were seminars running all day on both days about a variety of topics ranging from where to look for gold in Wisconsin, how to process material, advantages of joining local groups of prospectors, metal detecting, and many other topics related to gold and treasure hunting. There were also a number of vendors displaying and demonstrating different tools of the hobby; metal detectors, gold prospecting equipment, bags of dirt with gold in them that people could buy and pan out at home, gold prospecting trips, etc.
