Public Hearing on Raw Milk Bill

Posted: Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010
Many of our readers remember drinking milk straight from the bulk tank as a child. But today, raw milk users have to creep behind milk houses like fugitives in order to evade lurking DOTCP agents. If you think raw milk should be legal to sell then let your voice be heard. A state senate committee and an Assembly committee has been looking into the legalization of the selling of raw milk and they are holding a public hearing in Eau Claire, Wednesday, March 10th, at 10:00 a.m., at the room 106 Auditorium of the Chippewa Valley Technical College.
Our food needs to be taken out of the control of big government and big corporate interests and back under the control of our households, merchants, and farmers. Though this bill falls short of complete freedom for farmers who want to sell their own milk, this is a step in the right direction. A large number of attendees will show our senators how many people are willing to trust farmers rather than government food safety regulations for their safety. Plus, if passed, the bill will stop the forced closing of small dairies who have dared to sell this illegal substance commonly referred to as "milk", (as long as they comply with the DOTCP).
