Part six in a series on George Muller's answers to prayer
On October 30, 1845, almost ten years after the commencement of the orphan work, George Muller received a letter that changed the course of the ministry. The letter, from a neighbor, was "a polite and friendly letter, in which he courteously stated to me that the inhabitants in the adjoining houses were in various ways inconvenienced by the Orphan Houses being in Wilson Street" (especially due to the noise as they played and the plugged drains!). This planted the seed idea of building a home of their own for the children, in spite of having nothing extra at the time. Though he told no one, 36 days later £1000 ($5000) was given and designated for this purpose.
