Letter to the Editor - To the Voters of the 31st State Senate District:

Written By: Melisa Thideman  |  Posted: Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

From personal experience with both the incumbent and the candidate for the 31st State Senate District, I encourage you to vote for Ed Thompson. I have known Ed to listen to his constituents and to use both common sense and caring in his decision-making and actions. I have not found the same to be true from Kathleen Vinehout.

Two years ago my husband and I purchased a daycare that had closed months before. We renovated the facility, hired staff and had a waiting list of families. Due to past relations and bureaucracy we could not get an inspection scheduled. Calls, emails and letters went out to our representatives to help cut through the block that was keeping our 15 new employees and the parents of the children from working. Ms. Vinehout serves on the Committee for Children and Family and Workforce Development. She did not return our calls or emails. She did not respond to our letters. Our mayor, Ed Thompson, looked into the matter and spent hours on the phone coordinating an inspection. (As did our former Rep. Terry Musser and our private attorney). Mr. Thompson's tireless and compassionate efforts to get people working made a great difference. A state team visited our facility and approved our child care license on the spot. We opened the following Monday and then received a letter of congratulations from Kathleen Vinehout.
