Dam break warning system to be installed along Chippewa River

Fears of drowning while boating or floating down the Chippewa River will now be alleviated slightly. Xcel Energy, which owns and manages the dams along the Chippewa, will be installing nine warning sirens along the Chippewa River in Eau Claire and Chippewa Counties. The sirens will alert users and those living near the river of a sudden rush of water due to the breaking of an upstream dam.
