In as little as two weeks, the City Council of Eau Claire has gotten underway in selling excess, city-owned land. The purpose of the plan, approved mid-April, is to determine which properties are no longer needed by the city and to sell them for increased revenue and to allow private individuals to increase the economic value of the city.
The first plots of land to be sold, as approved by the City Council late last month, are located in between Gooder Street and Statz Avenue in between La Salle Street and the North Crossing. They were originally purchased in order to build a drainage pond. The original owner of the properties will have the first shot at purchasing the properties.
