With Thanksgiving Day only a day away you've probably already prepared your menus and hopefully some of your pies as well. I'd still like to take the opportunity to place pie in the spotlight and give you some ideas to try in the future. "The future" doesn't necessarily have to mean next Thanksgiving, pie is a delicious ending to a meal almost any time of the year.
Pies generally have two defining characteristics: crust and filling. These characteristics are fleshed out in many ingredients, styles, and even degrees of difficulty. I'm going to keep it pretty simple here and talk about pie crust. Having a decent knowledge of what pie crusts are and what they're good for will save you from that misleading recipe you might find online. Good understanding leads to pleasing results and allows you more freedom and creativity within your own kitchen.
