Stettin Township Seizes 72 Year Old Man's Livelihood

            By the possible misapplication of zoning ordinances, The Town of Stettin, Marathon County Wisconsin has seized what the owner, Roger Hoeppner, says is $160,000 worth of farm equipment, tractors, and miscellaneous items, as well as some items owned by other individuals.

            Mr. Hoeppner has been making sales of these types of items at this property for the past forty years and prior to the enactment of, and the amendment to the Town of Stettin Zoning ordinances. He claims that he and his wife Marjorie have established a right to nonconforming use because they have been using their property in the same manner for many years, and prior to the enactment of the zoning ordinances. He claims Chairman Matt Wasmundt and the Town of Stettin are selectively enforcing the zoning ordinances against him in violation of the Equal Protection and Due Process Clauses of the United States Constitution.
