Wisconsin is on the brink of economic collapse due to too much government spending, too many taxes, and too many jobs moving to other states. Government spends too much, our hard-working families and employers are taxed too much, and it's costing hard-working Wisconsinites their jobs. Over the last year, Senator Pat Kreitlow and his legislative colleagues have passed an agenda comprised of massive spending increases, burdensome government regulations, and tax increases that harm Wisconsin businesses and working families. They raised government spending by $3.6 billion (6.2%) and raised taxes and fees nearly $5 billion in 2009 alone. They have done major damage over a short period of time.
Our state has lost over 170, 000 jobs in the last few years. For the first time ever, Wisconsin has more government jobs than manufacturing jobs. Government can't keep growing while private sector jobs keep leaving. This situation is unsustainable, which is why Wisconsin is now ranked among the top 10 states facing fiscal collapse. The Department of Labor ranks Wisconsin as the 7th highest state with job losses.
