Valley Construction- Experience, Quality, and Reliability

Written By: Jennifer Buhler  |  Posted: Thursday, August 11th, 2011

Roger Sawatzky is no upstart carpenter. Valley Construction is now celebrating twenty years in the Chippewa ValFront Row(left to right): James Schroeder, Installation Manager; Roger Sawatzky, owner; Melanie McLaughlin, Office Manager. Back row: Bear E. Warm, Public Relationsley.  Roger began his career in 1973 when he remodeled houses for resale in the Twin Cities area.  The remodeling and turning over houses was just a side job that he worked in evenings and on weekends, but it wasn't long before he was offered a full-time job in construction, heading up a team in Rochester Minnesota.   The company then moved Roger to Mankato to start another construction company when a window manufacturer offered him a position.  He accepted the job, which brought him to Eau Claire.  After moving a few more times to comply with the window company, he decided he would rather plant himself in Eau Claire and concentrate on building his own construction company.  Valley Construction was started in 1991.

Roger is very particular about quality.  Valley Construction had grown over the years until they employed 50 people in 2000.  He felt that with so many employees, the quality of service and workmanship was suffering."I wanted to have better quality service and be more hands on with the business myself," he says.  Valley Construction began to downsize and today employs twelve people.  The company strives for excellence in their workmanship and most of their work comes from repeat customers and referrals.
