Costs from Union Protests Continue to Mount

More than a year and two recall election cycles later, Wisconsin is still finding out how much the union protests at the state capitol in Madison cost taxpayers. A recent report by the city of Madison says that Wisconsin taxpayers paid the city $712,833 to reimburse the police department for its efforts to provide some measure of order during the mob-like protests. Overall, increased police activity caused by the protests helped drive cost increases in Madison personnel budgets.
