UW Madison: 99% Similarity Between Adult and Embryonic Stem Cells

There has been much excitement along with controversy over the potential of using stem cells to heal many of today's diseases and injuries. Though there has been a lot of progress in using stem cells derived from adults, scientists at UW Madison and Stanford University, among other places in the world, have been working hard at trying to develop stem cells that are derived from a process that kills unborn children.
The controversy over whether killing should be allowed in order to perhaps heal the sick and injured may be coming to a close after a study was published last month by the UW Madison that showed that there are significant similarities between a type of adult stem cells and embryonic stem cells.
