Near the sleepy little town of Spring Valley, a rare treasure lays buried deep in the bowels of the earth, unbeknownst to many. This treasure does not consist of precious metals like gold or silver, although it does sparkle. This exceptional treasure is Crystal Cave and its wealth lies in the mystery and beauty of its spacious caverns and crooked corridors lined with glittering quartz.
Even the cave's discovery captures the imagination. A teenage boy was playing in the woods in 1881. The boy was chasing a little animal that escaped him and disappeared into a hole. Like most boys his age, he was curious where the animal had repaired to and began probing the hole with a stick. The hole was deeper than he imaged and at one point he lost his grip. Instead of the expected thump, the stick made no sound until he heard a hollow thud in the distance. Realizing that the stick had descended a great distance, the boy carefully marked the hole and returned later with his younger brother.
