Has Dave Obey Really Given Us Jobs?

How does Dave Obey continue to win the seventh district congressional seat in Northern Wisconsin? In Obey's own words, "Given my position in the congress, and my seniority, I think your best bet is to vote for me. The fact that I am in a position where I can affect the outcome of major issues is an asset to this district."

In particular, Obey is the head of the House Appropriations committee. At this position, he has been able to earmark a lot of Federal dollars in order to create and promote jobs to his constituents. He has recently been able to do more of this because of his leading role in the crafting of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (known as the Stimulus Bill); of February 2009.
