USPS Distribution Center Closing To Delay Service

Written By: ECJ Staff  |  Posted: Friday, January 6th, 2012

Financial woes continue for the United States Postal Service.  The profitless and nearly bankrupt government run mail delivery service plans on closing 252 mail processing and distribution centers throughout the U.S., including Eau Claire's on 3510 Hogarth Street.

The purpose is to help fill in the estimated $14 billion hole in 2012's budget.  Closing Eau Claire's facility alone will save the Federal agency over $3 million.  Other processing facilities expected to close are La Crosse's, Portage's, Wausau's, and Kenosha's.  Eau Claire and La Crosse's mail is to be processed in St. Paul.
