"Our country is going through a peaceful revolution, and I think it's great." Dan Kapanke
Dan Kapanke is running for Wisconsin's 3rd U.S. congressional district. In his interview with the Eau Claire Journal Dan said he is very concerned about the out of control spending in Washington. As he has traveled the 3rd district the people are telling him that they want the size of the federal government greatly reduced. He said the people also recognize that such a reduction will also mean a reduction in government services. He understands that Social Security and Medicare account for a majority of the $64 trillion in unfunded liabilities facing our federal budget. "The people get it. They understand that when the checking account is empty, the spending has to stop. People understand that we can't be all things to all people. To do so, we will have to tax ourselves out of existence. We're going to owe China so much money that China will own us. We're going to tax our jobs right out of the country. The people get that." He doesn't want to see anymore congressman spending $460, 000 just to refurbish his office. He promises that if he gets elected he will not accept any retirement income. If he is forced to take it he will give it all to charity.
