What is a QR Code and How Can it Help My Business?

            QR stands for Quick Response. Consumers want access to relevant information right away and QR codes make that happen. 

            QR codes are used in conjunction with your iPhone, Android or other Smartphone. You'll need an application on your smartphone to scan barcodes. I downloaded the ShopSavvy barcode scanner for my Droid. Although QR codes are still pretty new to the US, they've actually been used for over a decade in Japan. QR codes carry meaningful information in the vertical direction as well as the horizontal. By carrying information in both directions, QR codes can carry up to several hundred times more data than an ordinary barcode.
